From April 25 to 27, 2025, the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) conducted an on-site supervision review of Guangzhou LBP Medical Testing Laboratory's ISO15189 medical laboratory quality and competence accreditation. Over the three-day evaluation, the expert team rigorously examined the laboratory's quality management system, including areas such as organizational pathology, cytopathology, molecular pathology, and risk management. The team acknowledged the laboratory's operational standards and technical capabilities, concluding that it met the CNAS ISO15189 accreditation requirements and successfully passed the on-site review.
A team of experts led by Professor Xu Ning (Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine) and including professors from Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, and the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, evaluated the lab’s quality management across multiple areas such as organizational structure, pathology disciplines (cytopathology, molecular pathology), personnel, risk management, equipment usage, and system documentation. Over three days, the expert team inspected records, workflows, on-site testing, and staff competencies. In the closing session, the reviewers affirmed that the lab’s quality management system is sound and effective, recommending continued CNAS accreditation.
Looking ahead, Guangzhou LBP Medical Testing Laboratory will take this ISO15189 on-site review as a catalyst to uphold its quality policy of "Quality, Fairness, Service, and Improvement." The laboratory aims to continuously refine its processes and systems, achieving significant advancements in laboratory management, testing quality, and service capabilities. By doing so, it strives to deliver more reliable test results and efficient, high-quality services, contributing to the high-quality development of hospitals.
The ISO15189 quality management system is the key global standard for medical lab quality, and serves as a crucial basis for laboratory biosafety management. CNAS is the sole authoritative body in China responsible for ISO15189 accreditation of medical laboratories. Guangzhou LBP Medical Testing Laboratory's CNAS accreditation signifies that its pathological examination reports are recognized by international laboratories and member countries of the Asia-Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation Mutual Recognition Arrangement, thereby possessing international authority and credibility.
